The Gove District Hospital (GDH) paediatrics ward will receive their first ever Radical-5 Pulse Oximeters thanks to the generosity of Darwin contractor Good Sparks Electrical.
During a recent trip to GDH to undertake works, Good Sparks Electrical Director, Dale Marshall was made aware of the paediatrics ward’s need for the machines and out of good will purchased two at a little over $5,000.
Dale’s generosity will drastically improve the hospital stay for our smallest patients, allowing them to become mobile and move throughout the ward and even outside while still connected to the monitoring equipment. The machines will be to measure pulse rates, oxygen saturation and blood flow in paediatric patients and notify staff of any condition changes while the patient is outside of their room as well as bedside.
The machines are due to arrive in Gove next week and will be a much-welcomed addition the ward. GDH and the Top End Health Service are extremely grateful for these types of donations and thank Dale and his team for their ongoing support in making a difference to sick children on the ward.
