The Term 4 season has commenced and today junior golf focused on developing golf skills using fun games.

We also had a visitor, Peter Gahan from the Northern Territory of Institute of Sport (NTIS). Mr Gahan is the Manager of Coach and Athlete Development (Physical Development) and he spent the weekend in Gove facilitating coaching development workshops, which are a part of a NTIS Coaching Scholarship Program.

This program focuses on improving the quality of coaching at all levels, across all sporting codes for volunteer Coaches to the High Performance Specialists. Coaches will learn how to deliver programs that increase physical activity for all levels and ages, utilising quality, holistic, stimulating and fun teaching methods.

Scholarship recipients and Community MYGOLF Instructors Johnny and Esther Rika commenced the program this weekend, working on theory and practical modules that looked at Goal Setting, Effective Training Sessions, and Improving Movement Skills and Manipulating the Learning Environment.

Next week’s junior golf session will be game-play on the course, in preparation for the HD EARTHWORKS JUNIOR OPEN and end of year Awards, which is an OCTOBER GOLF MONTH event that will be held on the 28th October, starting 8.00am.

Thank you to ANDY GOULD and his team for keeping the golf course looking amazing and the Club Committee for your support to the junior program. Also thank you to SODEXO for the provision of fresh fruit after junior sessions.
