Independent Nhulunbuy MP Mark Guyula says he won’t represent electorate

INDEPENDENT MLA rejected the ’s bail amendments, saying he’s not in Parliament as a representative of his electorate but rather a “member from the Nations Assembly”.

“While I understand the perspective of other members who will support this bill, I do not support it, because, once again, I fear that we are making laws to suit non- society,” he said during debate in Parliament.

Attorney-General said Parliament exists to represent all — not just the people who vote for one candidate. “I am there to represent my community and I would encourage others to represent everybody, whether they voted for them or not,” she said.
