Nora brewing: Cyclone system expected to develop before the weekend
THE threat of Cyclone Nora striking the Territory’s east coast and Arnhem Land is increasing with a cyclone watch issued for the region.
The tropical low sat 300km north of Nhulunbuy late yesterday and the weather system is expected to develop into a cyclone tomorrow.
It is then predicted to strengthen into a category two cyclone as it tracks into the Gulf of Carpentaria.
The watch zone extends from Milingimbi and Cape Shield, and includes Nhulunbuy, Yirrkala and Elcho Island.
